Nutramax Laboratories Cosequin DS (Double Strength) is the double strength version of their popular joint supplement formulated for medium and large dogs 25 lbs and over. It is a glucosamine and chondroitin dietary supplement intended for dogs suffering from joint problems. Comes in a chewable tablet for easy administration.

Cosequin is recommendation as a supplement and the initial administration period is 4 to 6 weeks. Most animals should respond within this period. Improvement on Cosequin can range from gradual to dramatic. If the improvement is gradual, it may go unnoticed by the owner. It is therefore important to keep the animal at the initial amount for at least 6 weeks before deciding to discontinue the use of Cosequin. If there is gradual improvement and Cosequin is discontinued, a regression of clinical status can occur.

Cosequin DS can be used on dogs under 25 lbs, however, 1/2 tablet increments must be used.

For daily maintenance, follow the dosage chart below. For the first 4 to 8 weeks (administration period), Cosequin recommends that the dosage below be doubled. Chewable tablets may be fed directly or crumbled and mixed with food. Follow directions on bottle.

10 to 24 lbs - 1/2 tablet daily, 25 to 49 lbs - 1 tablet daily, 50 to 100 lbs - 1 to 2 tablets daily, Over 100 lbs - 2 tablets daily.

Ingredients per chewable tablet: Glucosamine (500mg), Sodium Chondroitin Sulfate (400mg), Ascorbate (33mg), Manganese (5mg).
