Is my veterinarian required to write me a prescription for medication he/she is willing to dispense so that I can fill it at a pharmacy of my choice?

The following states require a prescription be written upon request:

Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Wyoming

Although other states may not require a prescription be written, failure to do so is considered a breach of ethics by the American Veterinary Medical Association. See section:

III. THE VETERINARIAN-CLIENT-PATIENT RELATIONSHIP
C. Dispensing or prescribing a prescription product requires a VCPR
1. Veterinarians should honor a clients request for a prescription in lieu of dispensing.

How do I check to see if I have refills remaining from a prior order?

Log into in to the My Account section of our website. Click on View Order Details next to your most recent Rx order. Refill information will be listed in the Status History & Comments section. Prescriptions are kept on file for one year or until the refills run out, whichever comes first.

How do I get refills on a prescription I've ordered previously?

Prescriptions are kept on file for one year or until the refills run out, whichever comes first. If you know you have refills remaining on the last prescription submitted to us, place a new order and answer "Yes" to the refills on file question in the comments section during checkout on our website. If you have no refills remaining, our pharmacy will have to either contact your vet for the required approval or you will need to mail us a new prescription.

Why do you ask for my vet's fax number?

Vet clinics prefer to approve prescription orders via fax approval forms. Contacting your vet for their fax number gives you the opportunity to inform them that they will be receiving a fax approval form from us. Communication between you and your vet is critical in us being able to process your order quickly. If your vet does not have a fax machine, they can either call our pharmacy directly and provide phone approval or provide you with the original prescription to mail to us. The mailing address is below if you would like to mail us the original prescription in which case we will not have to contact your vet and your order can be processed immediately. Due to U.S. pharmacy law, we cannot accept faxed or emailed copies of prescriptions.
Attn: Pharmacy, Pet Nutrition Products, 1631 Rock Springs Rd., Suite 323, Apopka, FL 32712

Do you sell the same medications that I get from my vet?

Yes, our pharmacy is a fully licensed and Vet-VIPPS Certified U.S. pharmacy and sells the same exact medications from the same manufacturers as your vet does. All of our medications are FDA/EPA approved. Our veterinarians and pharmacists are here to work with your veterinarian to ensure your pet receives the best possible treatment, and to give our customers a convenient source of prescription medications at the lowest possible cost. Our pharmacy has a physical location and has been licensed in the U.S. since 1981 and is Vet-VIPPS Certified.

How do I order prescription drugs for my pet?

Simply place your order online. Purchase medications just like you purchase any other product on our website and you can purchase them at the same time you purchase other items. During checkout, let us know how we will receive your pet's prescription. We can either contact your vet for approval or you can mail us the original prescription and we will not contact your vet. Once we receive approval, we will process and fill your pet's prescription and email you a shipment confirmation.

Can you write a prescription for my pet?

No, only the veterinarian that personally examines your pet can write a prescription for your pet, since he or she is the only person who truly knows your pet and your pet's health condition. We endorse the American Veterinary Medical Association policy statement that drug therapy should only be initiated by an attending veterinarian in the context of a valid veterinarian-client-patient relationship. Our veterinarians and pharmacists are here to work with your veterinarian to ensure your pet receives the best possible treatment, and to give our customers a convenient source of prescription medications at the lowest possible cost.

How do I send you my pet's prescription?

Mail the original prescription to us at the address above. Please include your full name and order number in the envelope so we can match up the prescription with your order. Due to U.S. prescription law, we cannot accept faxed or emailed prescriptions.

How do I get refills on a prescription I've ordered previously?

Prescriptions are kept on file for one year or until the refills run out, whichever comes first. If you know you have refills remaining on the last prescription submitted to us, place a new order and write "Prescription on file" in the comments section during checkout on our website or send us an email or Live Chat us. If you have no refills remaining, our pharmacy will have to contact your vet for approval.

How soon will I receive my prescription order?

All prescription orders are upgraded at no cost to U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail so they will be received quickly. Once your order is shipped, it should be received within 1 to 3 business days anywhere in the continental United States. Please allow 24 to 48 hours for prescription processing. We will send you order update emails as your order is processed and a shipment confirmation email with your tracking number once your order is shipped.
