We have several rabbits, one of which is named Fisher. She is One and a half years old. We sectioned off the side of our yard and porch so that the bunnies could get fresh air, sunshine, and exercise. One day a few of the bunnies got out into the main yard. We were able to catch all of them except Fisher.
That night I left the outside light on and watched vigilantly for any sign of her. Then I saw her nosing around the corner of our house in the backyard and we were able to catch her. When we put her back into her cage, she stomped her foot. I could tell she was not happy.
I decided not to let her outside again, but quickly changed my mind after reinforcing the barrier to the main yard. The next day, again Fisher got out, but this time only her! I couldn't see how she did it, but we quickly assembled our family to try and catch her. We almost had her when all of a sudden our little Jack Russell got out into the side yard and was chasing the bunnies.
The distraction allowed Fisher to get away from us for good. Again, I watched for her for days to no avail. We resigned ourselves to the fact that she was gone, and maybe dead. After three to four weeks had passed and several rainy days and cold weather, my husband was getting his morning coffee when he exclaimed, "Honey!" I "knew" why he had said that! Sure enough Fisher had hopped right into our backyard!!
We immediately ran out to catch her, but not having blocked the back fence, she got away. About ten minutes later, she hopped back into our yard and up close to our house. We again went out and this time blocked the back fence, closed in on her and caught her. She had lost some weight, but all in all looked great, and is much more subdued than she used to be! So glad she's home. What are the chances of this happening! Bunnies must be pretty smart :)
