Vitamin C performs a variety of roles in your pet's body, and is naturally produced in the liver and kidneys. It is an antioxidant and antihistamine that improves your pet's joints, immune system, heart, and vision.

The amount of Vitamin C produced in the liver and kidneys is enough to maintain your pet's health; however, more Vitamin C is necessary for most animals because the increased amount of stress their body endures requires more Vitamin C. Therefore you should consider supplementing your dog's diet with Vitamin C, and more specifically Ester-C.

Ester-C contains calcium and Vitamin C metabolites, but will enter your pet's bloodstream quicker than normal Vitamin C. When your pet's body produces Vitamin C, the majority of it is lost through urine. Ester-C, however, is designed so that more is absorbed and retained by the body, and includes calcium and natural (non-acidic) ingredients.
